Well, this is a rather unexpected part of Prince’s legacy.
Following the pop legend’s death on Thursday, April 21, Buzzfeed unearthed a 1990 track co-written by Prince called “Donald Trump (Black Version).” The tune was performed by an R&B group called The Time.
Matt Thorne, who penned the biography Prince: The Man and the Music, wrote that the song “continues the theme of a black rewrite of Wall Street,” a narrative that the “Purple Rain” crooner was interested in telling at the time.
