Meet Nigeria's youngest Vice Chancellor, Dr. Moses Zira Zaruwa of Adamawa State University, Mubi

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Adamawa State University (MUBI) chapter, said it would give the new Vice-Chancellor unconditional support. Abubakar Song, Chairman, ASUU-MUBI spoke with journalist in Mubi.

4th of November 2015 appointed Dr. Moses Zaruwa as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the university. Zaruwa holds Phd in Phamacy, from Thailand, was until his appointment Deputy Vice Chancellor in the Adsu.

Song congratulated Zaruwa on his appointment, while commending the state government for following the path of wisdom in the selection process. We acknowledge the governor for picking the candidate on merit and silicity. “The new VC will enjoy a 110 per cent support.
He urged the VC to be people oriented, praying that God gives him a discerning spirit to run the institution well. Song said the union would also ensure that its members complement Management as partners in moving the university forward, “We would also ensure that some of our members, who are falling out of line, fall in line and perform their duties effectively, which includes teaching at the right time, conducting examination and uploading results when due, and rooting out any form of illegality minted on students he said.

Song urged the governor to complete the reformation work he had started in ADSU by meeting the outstanding demands of the unions. According to him, this will enable the VC work on a clean sheet.
“There are a number of outstanding issues and we intend asking the new VC to wade into it. “We are sure that Governor Jibrilla Bindow is an action governor and he will do the needful,” he said.

Mr Sunday Zira a lectural at chemistry Department and an ASUU ex official, declared support for the acting VC Dr. Moses Zaruwa. Mr. Sunday said the Ag. VC should try to be people oriented and separate the truth from chaff. He said that Dr. Zaruwa a pioneer staff of the university, truly knows the operations and problems of ADSU and honestly has done a lot for the university in whatever post he has held. There are no doubts that, with the right attitude and support from the state Government, ADSU under Dr. Zaruwa’s leadership will attain world class status.

Sunday also told newsmen that this is the first time a Pioneer staff is appointed as a VC from the Institution, he added that Dr. Zaruwa who rose through an assistant lecturer to senior lecturer it is a plus to the system, Sunday commended Dr. Zaruwa for building a cordial relationship between the state Government and the university community. He said that it was not surprising because Zaruwa has always been a bridge builder.
Sunday commended the state governor for appointing Dr. Zaruwa as the substantive VC of the institution, stressing that the VC has brought sound Academic culture in the system and that under Dr. Zaruwa leadership of the institution prompt payment of salaries and the plan take off of new programs and the proposed law faculty and college of medicine will be added blessings to Governor Bindow’s administration.
